1920s Women's Fashion Influencing Modern Style

The newest looks for fall this year are actually not new at all: they are recycled and improved designs from the 1920's.

1920s women's fashion took on a more masculine look. Trousers were loose and high-waisted, and hair was cut short and slick. Covering short hair, cloche hats were worn which emphasized the short cut.

The high-waisted, loose legged pants are definitely back in fashion this fall. Not only are they comfortable, but they flatter the feminine shape, covering and supporting what might be a sensitive mid-section area.

Longer skirts and coats were also the fashion for women of the 1920s. These knee and calf length pieces included lower waistbands and oversized belts that hung low on the hips.

We will see these previous trends this fall as trench coats are coming back into style, with large buttons and oversized matching belts. Pencil skirts are still classic for the work place, again taking their roots in previous fashion trends.

What's most exciting is the looser, more elegant look of the 1920s women's fashion that is reappearing in modern fashion trends. Tight and "cute" threads are on the way out this fall, being replaced by classier and more elegant styles.
